Smarked for Death – WWE Raw 4/25/11.

Raw starts off hot with a Smackdown vs. Raw battle royal.  The winning side gets the first pick in the 2011 Draft.  No time to write an introduction, its time to start Raw!

Before tonight I could not have told you with any certainty what show Great Khali is officially on.  Nor would i have cared.  I keep trying to remember who on the Raw roster wears white wrestling tights.  Turns out its Sheamus’s pasty white legs.  Business picks up as more and more Superstars are thrown over the top rope.  Mark Henry and Brodus Clay eliminate each other, which explains how those two can get out of the match yet still both look strong.  Drew McIntyre eliminates Sheamus.  Well there goes my dream for the Celtic Connection tag team.  The match is down to an even 4 on 4.  Mason Ryan gets a moment to shine and eliminates Cody Rhodes.  Match is now down to two on two.  Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston square off against each other for possibly the first time.  This exchange immediately tops the list of feuds I want to see.  Mason doesn’t get a chance to shine any more and his elimination cements the victory for Smackdown.  Big Show and Kofi Kingston are the survivors for the blue team.

John Cena to Smackdown.

Wow if that sticks it will be huge.  Of course it could be like the time Triple H was drafted only to make his much hyped return to Raw the very next week.  Cena puts on a blue shirt.  Fruity Pebbles for life!

John Cena cuts a nice geeky promo for his debut on Syfy.  Cena promises to bring the WWE title back to Smackdown and Miz gives the rebuttal.

Oh for the love of… Cole’s graphic now says “Sir Michael Cole”.  Is there any way I can pay extra and be provided with a Sir Cole free edition of Raw.

R-Truth comes out and cuts a promo explaining his new heel behavior.  This goes on way too long.  By the end Truth becomes angry at “little Jimmy” in the front row.  Jimmy is never shown on camera.  At least I didn’t catch him.  I don’t think there is a little Jimmy.  I think Truth lied to us.  He’s still talking?!  John Morrison runs out and attacks Truth from behind.  No idea if Truth was done talking yet, but he is now.  Either these two have a match tonight with the spot on the line, or Extreme Rules becomes a 4 way match.

Kharma promo!  We see her face!  Kong is here bitches!  The word “harm” blends into Kharma.  Well done.

Now onto two Divas who aren’t given any build up or personality.

Eve vs Layla (with Michelle McCool)

Eve looks like she trips up on the first move of the match.  Cole starts to speak and takes away all attention from the match.  Eve gets Layla with a roll up.  Cole is still talking as he walks up the ramp.  Layla and Michelle have a big fight after the match.  If only they took their anger out on Cole instead.  Layla snaps and is so confused over her break up.  She’s crying her eyes out while kicking McCool’s ass.  Its a  lot like Truth’s heel turn last week.

Rey Mysterio to Raw.

That is another huge switch.  Even Zack Ryder celebrates!  Yay, WWE’s version of Where’s Waldo is over and completed for the night.  Has Rey ever officially been on Raw?

Jim Ross is warming up in the back.  Yes, that was the phrase used.  How this equals ratings is beyond me.

Cody Rhodes continues to grow as a super villain.  He threatens Rey Mysterio and their match at Extreme Rules might steal the show.  Cody would be perfect as Marvel’s The Hood.  Someone cast that in the Avengers movie.

Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus (US Champion)

Sheamus controls the beginning of the match and Kofi is looking weak.  Kofi starts to get moving and his speed becomes too much for Sheamus.  The Celtic Warrior shakes the cobwebs loose and comes exploding out of the corner.  Kofi continues to move too fast to be caught though.  However his  Trouble in  Paradise finisher is caught by Sheamus’s face and Kofi gets the pin.

Randy Orton to Smackdown

This is one that most of the internet actually predicted.  Orton can really thrive over on Smackdown and fill the void left  by the absence of Edge.  Never before have the two brands really seemed like equals.

Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole

We don’t discuss anything involving Cole’s wrestling matches on here.  No, we don’t.   You want to find out what happened, go look somewhere else.

The Miz and Alex Riley get interviewed.  Miz makes a good point that he is still WWE champion and yet he’s getting ignored in WWE.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Randy Orton

Dolph has a new look and Orton is now property of Smackdown.  WWE is already changing up.  The winner of the match gets two draft picks for their brand.  I thought Dolph was DH Smith for a moment.  Still not used to that hair.  Honestly, he fades into the background with that hair.  Never has the bleached blonde look assisted one’s career so much.  Besides Hogan, Flair, Graham, Gorgeous.  Orton looks like he’s growing out his scalp and beard.  Maybe the move to Smackdown will come complete with an all new look for Randy.  Ziggler tries to have Vickie distract Orton but Randy is too smart for it.  One RKO later and Smackdown’s roster grows by two.

CM Punk comes out before either draft pick can be announced.  Punk vs. Orton at Extreme Rules is a Last Man Standing match, so Punk and  Orton hype it up a bit.

Mark Henry to Smackdown.

Sin Cara to Smackdown.

No one cares where Mark Henry goes anymore.  I didn’t know that Sin Cara was officially on either show, much less official enough to Raw to be traded.  With Rey moving to Raw it does make sense to throw Sin Cara on Smackdown.  Also, the alliteration is nice.

Wade Barrett (Intercontinental champion, member of the Corre) vs. Rey Mysterio

These guys are finding loyalty to their new brands awfully quick.  Winning team of this match gets two draft picks.  Rey has “spent almost all of his career on Smackdown”.  You know, besides his time in Mexico, ECW, and WCW but who’s counting?  Rey hits 619 and a splash for the pin.  Wade never really had a chance in this match.

Big Show to Raw.

Has anyone switched shows more than Big Show?  I swear he gets switched back and forth every year.  I need to look this up later.

Alberto Del Rio to Raw.

The internet predicted this one.  This upcoming PPV is now lacking in surprises.  Brodus and Ricardo worry about what this means for them.  Give Alex Riley a call and copy/paste his contract.

Teddy Long announces that the last match will be a six man tag for the last draft  pick.

Miz (WWE Champion), Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk vs. John Cena Christian and Mark Henry.

Lets see… Only one of these guys doesn’t have a match on next weekend’s PPV.  I’ll predict Mark Henry takes the pin and Raw gets the last draft pick.  This might be the first  time Christian and Punk have been in the ring together.  That is a pairing I would also like to see more from.  Lawler calls Michael, “Sir Cole”, which sounds a lot like “Circle”.  Thus he should be called Sir Cole Jerk.  ADR works over Christian’s arm and if they throw a ladder in the ring too this would be a nice preview for  Extreme Rules.  Christian hits a tornado DDT out of the corner and onto Del Rio.  Christian gets the hot tag to Cena and… Mark Henry clotheslines Cena?!  Henry press slams Christian onto the ring steps.  That’s how you do a heel turn!  Miz sneaks in to hit the Skull Crushing Finale on the otherwise damaged John Cena for the pin.

John Cena to Raw.

Well that’s fucking ridiculous.  That’s up there with the infamous Triple H non trade.  At least it throws the PPV a little closer to being unpredictable.

Supplementary draft starts at noon on WWE.com
