Top New DVD Releases for September 14.

An insane amount of things coming out this week.  The companies are starting to build to the Halloween horror movie tide.  Also a ton of TV show season sets in preparation of the new fall season.  Speaking of…

Big Bang Theory the Complete Third Season.  I missed this entire season due to watching Monday Night Raw instead.  I know I missed a lot of good stuff which is why this is my first purchase today.  Hopefully I’ll be through the set before season 4 starts, and airs on Thursdays this year.

And a random picture of star, Kelly Cuoco, for you.  In a thong.

Prince of Persia wasn’t a great movie but it was a lot of fun.  I’ve never played any of the video games but I still got wrapped up in it.  Worth at least a rental, then decide how much you like it.  Gemma Arterton should be a star soon.

Fringe The Complete Second Season.  I’ve yet to watch an episode of Fringe, but I know the youth that do are getting the same feeling I had when the X-Files was new.  I’ll get to it eventually but you can get to it today.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job Season 4.  An acquired taste for sure.  Either a) sit through many an episode until you get their humor or b) acquire weed and get really really high before watching.  One of the strangest and hilarious shows out there.  Throw a party and have this on in the background.  Thin out your friends.  Separate the weak from the fucked up.

The Black Cauldron 25th Anniversary Edition.  One of Disney’s forgotten films, and thus very surprising that its getting this release.  Although its not a highly advertised “from the vault” edition.  Will unlikely hero  and pig farmer Taran beat the Horned King to claiming the Black Cauldron?

UFC 116 is Lesnar vs. Carwin.  Watch in in preparation for Brock Lesnar’s October fight.

WWE SummerSlam 2010 featured an intense main event as Team WWE took on the Nexus in a 7 on 7 match.  Surprises all the way around in this match

Rifftrax (the former Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew) release two new DVDs of them running commentary on short features.  Plays with Their Shorts and Shorts a Poppin.

Necromentia has a nasty looking bad guy.  In order to open a gate to hell a map must be carved on a living human body.  Hijinx ensue.

Closet Space looks nasty as hell.  6 graduate students try to locate their professor who has taken a scientific research trip into a closet.  The closet, of course, is a portal.  Nasty deaths and a lot of blood follow.  Definitely an independent budget, but one that spends its money in all the right places.

I think I need to come up with a new term for the next movie.  I’ll call this GalaxyGrind.  Grindhouse type movies based in sci-fi.  Starcrash is the latest in the Roger Corman Cult Classics collection.  A cheap grab for the Star Wars money, everything about it looks cheap.  This means we have to see it right away.

All of this leads up to Mad Ron’s Prevues from Hell.  Mad Ron shows the most spine tingling, blood spurting, bile bulging horror previews ever to hit a silver bronze of tin screen.
