So I’ve never previously read this comic.  I realize its already up to issue 6, and I have no idea if there were any mini series or one shots before this.  Additionally its been a couple years since I’ve seen the movie and I’ve yet to watch 28 Weeks Later.  I know, I know, bad zombie fan!

First of all, that’s a gorgeous cover.  There are two covers to this issue but I’d skip on the other one.

Our three characters, Selena Derrick and Clint are trying to get to safety.  I’m guessing London as this takes place in England.  Derrick has been scratched or clawed or something and his wounds are becoming infected.  Not turn into a running full of rage zombie infected, but real infection.

Selena wants to kill him to put Derrick out of his pain.  Clint can’t kill his friend.  They collect some gas (petrol for you Brits) and hide out in the bed of the truck while it rains.  Zombies come out during the rain and attack the cab of the truck, but leave the bed alone.  The three living people take off the next morning and encounter a roadblock of three other survivors.

Its just an average comic.  I liked it, and would read more, but I’m no where near a frenzied state to have all the issues right now.  Everything is good and up to Boom’s high standards in art and coloring.  But one of my other issues with Boom (especially Irredeemable) is they don’t write for single issues, or even the graphic novel, they write for the epic.  Its like reading a single chapter in Two Towers.  Not only do I have to read one book to get the whole story, I have to read four (counting the original trilogy and Hobbit, not arguing later books here) to get it all.

Also, why do zombies come out in the rain?  Is it an earthworm thing and they’ll drown if they don’t come out of the dirt?  A zombie, in theory, shouldn’t be able to drown.  Also, zombies should look for survivors when its bright and sunny out.  Not during the rain when most humans, now or post apocalypse would be inside.
